Practical Information
We booked our trip over the internet from Caravan-Serai. The actual tour was conducted by KTI Voyages of Casablanca. Other agencies offer similar itineraries, such as Gateways International.

Our group consisted of twelve travellers: four Americans, four Brazilians, two Italians, one Canadian, and one Brit. Our tour guide, Selim, spoke fluent English, Portuguese and Italian as well as Arabic, French and Spanish. We were very pleased with the entire trip and do not hesitate to recommend it.

We carried three books with us:
  • Lonely Planet: Morocco. An excellent practical guide to travel in Morocco. Loads of useful advice for the independent traveller. Very helpful when we had time on our own. Don't buy a carpet without reading this first.
  • Michelin Green Guide: Maroc. Still the most comprehensive guide for travel anywhere. Practical information and excellent historical, cultural, and geographical background.
  • Michelin Map 959 is the map to carry so you know where you are.
  • V.S. Naipaul: Among the Believers: An Islamic Journey. Naipaul's journeys to Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia and his conversations with Islamic fundamentalists. Not truly relevant to Morocco, but worthwhile reading if you are trying to understand the Islamic point of view.
