An expedition through pack ice with Adventure Canada aboard the Ocean Victory. We fly from Yellowknife, board the ship at Kugluktuk on the Coronation Gulf, then sail through the Kitikmeot region, Bellot Strait, and the storied waters around Beechey Island and Lancaster Sound, north to Grise Fiord and Smith Sound, then east to Northwest Greenland and south along the coast to Ilulissat, Sisimiut, and Kangerlussuaq.
Route overview
The first half of our trip traverses the territory of Nunavut, meaning Our Land, a sprawling 2 million square kilometers, formed in 1999, and home to only 40,000 people, more than 85% of whom are Inuit (called Nunavummiut).
The MS Ocean Victory is an ice-strengthened (Polar Class 1A / PC6) expedition cruise ship ship, 9 decks, 104m long, 18m wide, and capable of carrying 175 passengers. She was built in Haimen shipyard, Jiangsu China, and launched in 2021.
We will spend a lot of time in Zodiacs, the little boats that take us to adventures near and on shore .
